Engleman was a track and field standout for the Huskies. He was a four-time PSAC champion in the two-mile run, undefeated for three years in the one-mile run and won two PSAC mile championships. He was also a Penn Relays three-mile champion in 1960 and finished third in the PSAC cross country championships twice. Engleman also took part in the 1960 United States Olympic trials. In 1981, he won the Eastern Master's one- and two-mile races and was a member of the National master's distance medley relay team.
