Michelle Wolyniec was a two-sport standout and two-time All-American for the Huskies, competing in both cross country and track.
As a senior in 2000, she placed eighth in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Cross Country Championships and was 11th in the NCAA East Regionals. In track, Wolyniec had a streak of wins in five consecutive races and also won the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Indoor 5,000-meter track championship in a time of 18:03—13 seconds in front of the second-place finisher. At the PSAC Championships, she won the 5000-meter race in 17:51.36 and was was fourth at 3000 meters.
She capped off a tremendous career by finishing eighth in the 10,000-meter race at the NCAA Division II Track Championships earning All-American honors for the second time.
As a freshman in 1996, she earned All-PSAC honors in track with a tenth-place finish and garnered All-Region status with a 13th-place finish at regionals. She was an All-American at 10,000 meters in her freshman season, finishing fourth in a career best time of 36:02. She also competed in Junior Nationals that year, finishing first in a field of top runners from the country in the 10,000-meter run.
In 1997, in track, she finished fourth at the PSAC Championships in the 5000-meter run.
Wolyniec currently lives in Plains Township and is employed by the SPCA of Luzerne County as an animal care technician and adoption counselor.
