Vance was the first tennis player in Bloomsburg history to reach 100 wins and the first to win four consecutive conference titles, in either singles or doubles. He finished his career with a singles record of 108-36. His two individual Pennsylvania Conference singles titles in 1979 and 1980 helped the Huskies to their first two PSAC team titles. Vance was the first player to advance to the NCAA tournament three consecutive years, twice as part of a doubles team and once in singles. Along with his four doubles championships, Vance won two Eastern Intercollegiate titles in doubles play.
