Mark Billone was standout on the tennis courts for the Huskies. He won the NCAA Division II National Tennis Championship in 1989 and was a two time All-American. He is Bloomsburg's first and only national tennis champion. He also participated in the NCAA Division I National Championship Tournament in 1989. In addition to closing out his senior season ranked number one in the nation in singles, he teamed with Roland Lamy to end the season ranked 13th in the nation in doubles. In addition, Billone was named the NCAA National Senior Player of the Year in 1989 and led Bloomsburg's tennis team to its highest national ranking ever (5th place). Billone also was the captain of Bloomsburg's teams in 1988 and 1989 and was named the MVP of the team in both seasons. He finished his senior season with a Bloomsburg record 42 wins.

After graduating, Billone went on to attain a world ranking and held a ranking on the men's professional tour from 1989 through 1992. In 2000 Billone was named one of Bloomsburg's 100 most influential people of the 20th century, while in 2001 Billone's NCAA championship was voted as one of the top 50 achievements in PSAC history.
