Michelle Martin Custer was a two-time All-American for the field hockey team and was named the 1996 National Player of the Year. She finished her career number two all-time assists at Bloomsburg with 30 (now third) and had the most assists in a season, 18, until the mark was recently surpassed. She was also a two-time first team All-PSAC selection and was second team All-PSAC as a sophomore. She finished her career with 16 goals and 30 assists. She helped the Huskies to a four-year record of 65-8-3 with two NCAA Championships, two NCAA second-place finishes, and one PSAC crown. Custer also excelled in the classroom and was a three-time honoree to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Academic team as well as a three-time PSAC and Bloomsburg University Scholar-Athlete.

Custer graduated with a degree in Secondary Education/English and is an English teacher at Garden Spot High School. She served as the head field hockey coach at Garden Spot from 2000 to 2014 and returned to coaching in 2011 as the assistant head coach.
