Denise Miller (Warner) was a four-year member of the both the Huskies field hockey and softball teams.
As a field hockey standout Miller was a two-time All-American (1991 and 1992) and was the 1992 National Player of the Year. She was also a three-time All-PSAC selection and was the 1992 PSAC Athlete of the Year. She finished her career as the school's all-time leader in career goals with 82 and points with 174. Her records stood in both of those categories for over 15 years before being surpassed.
Miller had her best season in 1991 when she scored a then school-record 31 goals for the season and posting a then school-record 82 points. In 1992 she scored 20 goals and had three assists leading the Huskies to their third straight Pennsylvania Conference title. Overall in her four years the Huskies posted a record of 77-10-2.
In softball Miller was a three-year starter for the Huskies earning All-PSAC honors in 1991 and was named to the NCAA All-Tournament team in 1990. She finished her career with a .332 career batting average and is 11th all-time in school history in runs scored with 134. Her best season was 1991 when she hit .351 and led the team in runs scored with 45. She helped the Huskies to an overall record of 170-25, three PSAC titles and second, third and fourth place finishes at the NCAA championships.
Since graduation she returned to Waynesboro, Pa. where she currently resides. She began work while still in school at Citigroup, and has been a Branch Manager for the company in Hanover, Pa. and has received numerous awards, including the “Chairman's Forum” which is the highest award a branch manager can receive. She has achieved this in 9 out of her 10 years as a manager. She continued her athletic career by playing both field hockey and softball in organized leagues, and presently plays softball in a league in Chambersburg, Pa. Married in 2002, she and her husband Scott reside in Waynesboro near her family and friends.
