As a football standout, Nemetz was named to the 1951 Associated Press All-Teacher's college first team, the All-East team in 1953 and the Little All-American team in 1953-54. As a wrestling coach, he posted a record of 212-62-8, including 58 consecutive dual-meet victories. Nemetz was inducted into the Shore Conference Hall of Fame in 1991 and the South Jersey Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1992.
